Time Machine Backups

Apple’s own backup service isn’t that bad but far from perfect. By default it will backup all of your files including the operating system for easy recover. However you might want to exclude files from Time Machine to keep your backups lean and trim.

Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC)

Create a bootable disk image with Carbon Copy Cloner version 4. CCC backups will take a full disk image of your bootup disk and then incremental backups from there, only copying the files which have been updated. CCC comes with a 30 day trial and purchase for $19.99
